ShapeUs Studio’s Le Ha Hoang Describes Serif’s Design

Serif is a Vietcetera project—with a games piece by the modern-industrial Vietnamese furniture firm District Eight. The rooftop space presents a view of the buildings that make up Ben Thanh Market that’s rarely seen. From the fourth floor of 58 Phan Boi Chau, the formations of the 13,000-meter-square-market originally constructed in 1912 are visible. “Here, the starting point was the physical aspect of the building. Their marketing manager Linh Tran recently told us that “Without District Eight’s vision and furniture pieces, we wouldn’t have been able to build the high-impact...

While AIA have been executing a strategy helping them to expand their innovative model across Vietnam, the award-winning organization have also been looking inwards to explore what kinds of spaces a modern life insurance company might inhabit. “The idea here really was to redefine what the headquarters of a life insurance company could look like in Vietnam,” Nhon Ly, AIA Vietnam’s chief strategy and marketing officer, says about his company’s partnership with designers, The Lab. In 2013, before...
